For the better part of three decades I have been devoted to learning and teaching Pilates. From my beginnings as a young dancer in New York City, studying Pilates, to my current role as the owner of a large Pilates company, I am inspired by the people who join me in the study of the method and I continue to be awed by those who make Pilates their life's work. I'm excited every day by Pilates and I hope to inspire you to be as well.
I strive to make this site both a resource for exercises as well as educational brain trust. Here you will meet the people that do Pilates as well as those that share Pilates. I will provide you with information and reviews of Pilates products and places that are important to Pilates and to your practice.

Alycea began her Pilates training at just 14 years of age. She studied to become a Pilates teacher under Romana Kryzanowska. In 1995 Alycea established her own studio Tribeca Bodyworks which was later expanded to its current Real Pilates. A respected authority on Pilates, she has authored best-selling books which include Pilates: Body in Motion as well as 15 Minute EveryDay Pilates and the Pilates Practice Companion. Her titles are printed in over 17 languages worldwide. In addition to teaching clients and training teachers, Alycea runs a prestigious Pilates teacher training program. She also develops products and signature programming for the Pilates industry and consumers alike. Her patented Real Alignment Mat and mobile Apps are enjoyed by Pilates aficionados everywhere. Real Pilates signature classes can be found in studios across the country. As the Real Pilates brand expands, Alycea has made it her mission to inspire students to greatness, teachers to excellence and the industry to evolve and expand.
Alycea received her baccalaureate degree from NYU and is a licensed Physical Therapist. She holds a Pilates certification through the Pilates Method Alliance and a Master's degree in Clinical Nutrition. She is an avid exerciser and credits Pilates with giving her the perfect foundation for fitness that allows all body movements to be performed with ease and enjoyment.
