The end of pregnancy can play some cruel tricks. Your uterus has contractions, but not all the time. Your back hurts. Your feet are swollen. You're miserable. Labor isn't far off once you're at the end. Remember that patience, a good dose of humor, and lots of comfort measures can really help.

Early labor can be elusive for some. Many times you'll spend hours trying to figure out what's going on. Lots of women have even expressed that early labor feels more like an illness and they wrote it off. Ignoring it as long as you can is good advice as long as you aren't experiencing any warning signs like bleeding. Refresh yourself on when you're supposed to call your midwife, doctor, or doula!

You are most likely in labor, though you obviously are still early enough that you're playing around on the Internet. That's a sign that you probably still have some time. Make sure to alternate periods of rest with activity, eat and drink to comfort, and call your support team when needed.

You have many of the signs of advancing labor and are well on your way to having the baby, if s/he hasn't already made an appearance. Stay focused, surround yourself with supportive people and carry on. Your birth plan will guide those around you, making sure the choices you've made are followed through. Happy birthing!
