Individual Clinics Offering Asthma & Allergy Scholarships

You might also check with your own local doctor. A number of different clinics have begun offering scholarships for higher education for their patients with asthma and allergies.

Drs. Lockey, Fox, Ledford and Glaum of a local clinic in Tampa, Florida offer a one-time-only grant paid directly to your college for undergraduate study in the academic year in which the scholarship was awarded. The physicians and staff of the clinic form the panel making the award. You must be a patient of the practice for one year.

In honor of their founding partners, the physicians of Colorado Allergy & Asthma Centers offer four $1,000 scholarships to current patients who are pursuing higher education- undergraduate or graduate.

Other Scholarships Students With Asthma Could Consider

A number of other scholarships are available that might not pertain specifically pertain to asthma, but might be ones you can apply for.

The VISINE® STUDENTS WITH VISION Scholarship Program targets students with eye allergies that excel academically, demonstrate leadership in community service and extracurricular activities, and are making huge strides toward their goals. while not all asthmatics have eye allergies, this program might benefit you if you do.

There are also a number of scholarships available for patients with disabilities. Asthma can, in certain instances, be classified as a disability. Likewise, the individual scholarship classifications for disability may vary. One such scholarship is the Google Lime Scholarship. This $10,000 dollar scholarship targets students with a disability and have a passion for computer science. Additional benefits include an invitation to attend the annual Google Scholars' Retreat at the Googleplex in Mountain View, California and  consideration for software engineering internship opportunities with Google. The disability definition includes "invisible disability (defined as someone who has, or considers themselves to have, a long-term, or recurring, issue that impacts one or more major activities that others may consider to be a daily function)." You will just need to make an argument for why you might be a good choice.
