Guide Review: DreamSacks Bamboo Sleepwear Wicks Away Night Sweats Naturally

You'd have a hard time finding a softer, more ecologically friendly hot flash nightgown than a model from DreamSacks BambooDreams collection.

Even though DreamSacks doesn't market their sleepwear specifically for relief from night sweats, the bamboo fibers are naturally wicking, keeping you comfortable even if a hot flash strikes.

Nancy and Larry Morgan, two very philanthropic people, own DreamSacks. In addition to keeping their company committed to high ecological and ethical standards, they use the natural fibers of silk, bamboo, soy, and cashmere.

DreamSacks offers sleepwear and daywear for women, men, and babies, as well as bedding and towels.

Bamboo yarn is naturally wicking, anti-microbial, and hypoallergenic. You may not want to wear your nightgown out in the sun, but if you do, you'll be happy to know that the fabric has a UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) rating of 50, which protects your skin from sun without having to use creams or lotions.

I tested a small DreamNaturally V-Neck Nightshirt for several nights. The generous v-neck design allowed me to stay cooler than my usual collared gown would do, so I had some difficulty working up a hot flash at first. I was concerned because the nightgown fit as snug as skin, but the fabric breathed so well that I never felt squeezed or weighed down. I'll have to admit that next time, I would order a medium, just to get a bit more room. The bamboo-spandex fabric felt cool and silky, and extremely light-weight. If I were to travel, this would be a great gown to pack, as it folds down quite small.

After several attempts at getting a hot flash to occur, I did get one early one morning after a restful night's sleep. The DreamNaturally nightgown had wicked my night sweat away from my skin, and I felt cool and comfortable.

Dreamsacks sleepwear certainly lives up to its name - and its claims for natural fibers that are naturally wicking, hypoallergenic, and free of harsh dyes. I found that their bamboo fiber wicks moisture well, but dries a little more slowly than high-performance athletic fabrics. The price of $48 for the nightgown is reasonable for a natural fiber, but if it seems too high, check their website for clearance items, which are marked at good prices. Any item of clothing or bedding from DreamSacks would make a nice gift for a friend who is dealing with night sweats or a fine treat for yourself. Put your hot flashes to sleep in a DreamSack!
