BodyGlide Anti-Blistering and Chafing Stick

Courtesy of

BodyGlide is one of the top chafing and blister prevention products on the market. It's easy to apply and not messy or greasy. It is the runner's friend. You can use it on your feet to prevent blisters and hot spots and on any spot on your body where you might have chafing. That includes your underarms, thighs, crotch, under-bra areas and nipples.

What is BodyGlide?

BodyGlide is a lubricant stick that comes in a container much like a stick deodorant.

You apply it the same way you would a deodorant stick, but to any part of your body other than your eyes. It is made of plant-derived ingredients and contains no petroleum products, parabens, lanolin or mineral oils. It is vegan-approved and they do not do any testing on animals.

The other advantages of BodyGlide are that it is allergen-free and most of its formulations are scent-free. It's safe around children or pets (although they recommend keeping it out of their reach) and it also won't gum up your clothing or damage footwear or swimwear.

BodyGlide Pros

  • No mess, invisible
  • Non-greasy, non-oily - won't clog your pores
  • Stands up to water and sweat - perspiration escapes but doesn't wash it off.
  • Good in hot or cold weather
  • All natural vitamin E and aloe
  • Hypoallergenic, easy to apply
  • Washes off with soap and water

BodyGlide Cons

  • Can't share it with a running buddy as it is applied it to areas where it may pick up bacteria or fungus, etc. that you wouldn't want to share.

    BodyGlide Formulations

The original BodyGlide is now labeled simply Body. It comes in a variety of sizes from the 0.21 oz. size that you can take with you on a run up to the 2.5 oz. large size to keep at home.

They also have a Foot version (which oddly enough, is scented), a For Her stick, a Cycle stick, a Sun stick with SPF 30 added, and a Skin cream version for those who don't want a stick.

    Expert Review - BodyGlide

BodyGlide is a lubricant that's designed to prevent blisters and/or chafing in vulnerable areas, such as your feet, inner thighs, sports bra lines and underarms. I've gotten chafed during long runs in the past and I've learned my lesson; now I never do a long run or race before applying some BodyGlide.

Unlike other anti-chafing and blister products, such as Vaseline or Aquaphor, BodyGlide is not sticky or messy. It comes in a stick and is applied like a deodorant, leaving no sticky, oily or powdery residue. The protection lasts as long I'm running, yet BodyGlide comes off easily in the shower.

BodyGlide's motto is that the product "stops trouble before it starts." And it's true. It really has saved my skin during my long runs and races.

The only negative I've experienced with BodyGlide is that, unlike a tub of Vaseline, it's not very easy to share. Because you have to roll-on the stick in some very, um, private areas, it's not something that you want to lend to a friend.

I've had other runners ask to use my BodyGlide at races and, although I've reluctantly said yes (I don't want my friend to get chafed!), I felt like it was then a little unsanitary to save it for future uses.
