8 Dance-Club Fitness Must-Haves for Women

When Going Out Means Working Out

Dancing is sexy, so why in the world would you wear a baggy t-shirt and running shorts to get your groove on? In today's world, "going out" often means grabbing your friends to head to a club-style dance workout, so you should choose high-tech apparel that makes you look like you're going to a club.

If you're lucky enough to live in New York, your one-stop-shop should be Bandier, a specially curated store featuring all of the latest fashion-forward fitness apparel, including the pieces featured above from Phat Buddha and ALALA. If, however, you're not in the Big Apple, check out some of my favorite pieces from online shops.

A Fun Crop Top

Show off your mid-drift in a crop tee with mesh shoulder panels from ALALA ($75). You'll look sexy without crossing a line, and the loose fit of the top maximizes breathability for your workout.

Sexy Sports Bra

Phat Buddha

Worn alone or underneath a mesh top, this Phat Buddha 5th Avenue Sports Bra ($75) is both eye-catching and supportive. The straps are also adjustable for the perfect fit.

Club-Worthy Performance Leggings

Leather leggings won't work during a true workout, so look for a fitness imposter. I've fallen in love with FitFit's Lotus Leggings ($85). They come in five different colorways and feature a glossy, leather-like finish in a stretch fabric that's designed for activities like yoga, barre, and dance. You could even get away with wearing them out for drinks after your workout is done.

An Eye-Catching Coverup

Skip the standard hoodie and opt instead for a fashion-forward coverup, like this mesh-front neoprene sweatshirt from ALALA ($155).

Fun Crops

Graced by Grit

You don't need to wear full-length leggings every time you hit the studio. Keep things fun and a little bit cooler with a pair of Graced by Grit Land and Sea Logo Knickers ($72). Their flattering fit and multi-function design makes them a must-have for every active woman's wardrobe. Available in six different colors, you can wear these to your dance class, out on a run, or even in the water - their quick-dry technical fabric was originally designed with stand up paddleboarders in mind.

A Move-With-You Tank

CS by City Sports

When you don't want to show off your mid-drift, opt for a tank that sits close to your body without feeling confining. I love the wicking fabric, pleats and adjustable tie at the hem of this CS by City Sports Charming Tank ($30). You can wear it during your workout, or you can wear it as a "athleisure" top when hanging out with friends.

A Great Bag

Carry your gear to and from the gym (or maybe even work) with a duffel bag that's designed to be seen. The Lululemon High Mileage Duffel ($128) has a wet-dry pocket for sweaty gear, a zippered compartment for athletic shoes, a slip for flip flops, and additional interior and exterior pockets to help keep you organized. Plus, it's designed to carry up to 50-pounds. That means you can easily pack all your beauty supplies inside to get ready for a night on the town after your workout.

A Studio Shoe

While some dance classes are designed to be done barefoot, many of the high-intensity, high-impact cardio dance workouts are best performed with shoes. By choosing a dance shoe, rather than a traditional athletic shoe, you'll be able to spin, slide and move with greater ease (dance shoes have less traction on the bottom). The ASICS GEL-RHYTHMIC 2 ($65) is one possible option.
