How-To: Spray a large microwave-safe mug or wide bowl with nonstick spray. Add 3/4 cup egg whites or fat-free liquid egg substitute, and microwave for 1 1/2 minutes. Why it’s great: If you’re looking for protein-packed patties without the hassle (or a lot of fat), this recipe is a must. It makes five burgers, so it’s perfect for family night, a BBQ, or make-ahead weeknight dinners. I like to wrap mine in lettuce leaves or have 'em on 100-calorie flat sandwich buns.

How-To: In a large bowl, thoroughly mix 1 1/4 lb. raw lean ground turkey (7 percent fat or less) with a 1-oz. packet of onion soup/dip mix. Evenly form into 5 patties. Bring a grill pan sprayed with nonstick spray to medium-high heat. Grill burgers for about 6 minutes per side, until cooked through. (1/5th of recipe, 1 patty: 180 calories, 8g fat)

Why it’s great: Whether you’re craving something salty or sweet, this low-calorie snack pair will satisfy. 

How-To: Slice the stem ends off 10 large strawberries, about 1/3 inch, so there is a small opening in each berry. If needed, use a narrow spoon handle to make the opening larger. Evenly fill berries with 1/4 cup reduced-fat crumbled feta cheese, breaking the crumbles into smaller pieces if needed. (123 calories, 4.5g fat)

Why it’s great: Regular pigs in a blanket are full of calories and fat. These easy appetizers are completely guilt-free, but no one would ever guess. 

How-To: Start with 8 fat-free (or nearly fat-free) franks, each with 40 - 45 calories — cut each one into 4 equal pieces. Unroll a package of refrigerated Pillsbury Reduced Fat Crescent roll dough on a lightly floured work space. One at a time, stretch or roll each triangle out slightly to make it a larger triangle. Cut each dough piece into four long, narrow triangles. Beginning at the base of each of these triangles, roll up one hot dog piece in each until the triangle wraps around the center. Place blanketed pigs on a large, ungreased baking sheet. Repeat with remaining ingredients. You’ll have 32 pigs in a blanket. Bake at 375 degrees until dough appears slightly browned and crispy, about 12 minutes. (1/8th of recipe, 4 pieces: 134 calories, 5g fat)

How-To: Line a 12-cup muffin pan with foil baking cups or spray with nonstick spray. In a large bowl, mix 1 box moist-style devil’s food cake mix (15.25 - 18.25 oz.) with one 15-oz. can pure pumpkin until completely smooth and uniform. (Batter will be thick.) Distribute batter into muffin pan. Bake at 400 degrees until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out mostly clean, about 20 minutes. (181 calories, 3.5g fat)
