Early Gender Prediction Kits

Find Out the Sex of Your Baby in Early Pregnancy

There is a trend to find out the sex of your baby earlier and earlier in pregnancy. Certainly the vast majority of women still find out if they are having a boy or a girl at the mid-pregnancy ultrasound. While there are still some mistakes, this has been a fairly fast and accurate way to find out and begin planning for a specific sex. There are two new types of tests on the market, both can be done in your home and can be done in the first trimester. The kits below are ones that you can purchase based on each of the available types.

Intelligender Gender Prediction Test Kit

Intelligender is a urine based test that can be used in your house as early as the 10th week of pregnancy. You simply use some urine and mix it in the test and wait for about 10 minutes. Then compare your sample with the product card and it will tell you if you're having a girl or a boy. The product claims to be 90% accurate. I did my own testing on a few different moms and recorded my results. They do recommend that if you are taking progesterone or have PCOS that you do not use this test because the results will not be as accurate. How does it work? "It uses first morning urine and a proprietary mix of chemicals which reacts with a combination of hormones to indicate the gender of your baby."

GENDERmaker is another urine based test, but it can be used as early as six weeks pregnant. The results are also given in a much clearer format than in some where you are trying to match color samples. This may give this particular test a leg up. It's science? "Reaction occurs when chemical compound is being dissolved and mixed with solute molecules in the urine resulting from biochemical activity within the cells of the body, and triggers the color dye elements that correlate to specific gender." The offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

This test is designed more for entertainment purposes it would seem with a statement like this: "Proven to be 100% ACCURATE about half the time." Well, the odds are 50/50, but it comes in a two pack. The point here is to actually use this test during your gender reveal party. (Though I'm not sure if you're supposed to put the urine in the test or just go to the bathroom in a ceremonial fashion. I'll leave that to the party planners.) Though they do offer a money back guarantee if you're not pleased. This can be used as early as six weeks gestation.

This non-toxic gender prediction kit can be used in the fifth week of pregnancy. (Are people really eating these?) The company claims that it's more fun than a quiz and that it's great party fun. They do say it's 100% risk free, but remind you that no test is perfect, not even those pesky DNA tests.

This is another urine test, starts giving answers at six weeks into pregnancy. They boast clear results in pink or blue. My favorite line from their materials: "While we are confident in our test, we advise you not to make any financial or emotional decisions based on this test." I would tell you this, even if you were using some really big, expensive, medical tests too. This test is made in the US.

The SneakPeek is different than the urine tests above. This one uses fetal DNA and can be used at around nine weeks gestation. This test uses a small blood sample that you obtain by pricking your finger. You then mail the test into the company. The test is processed within 24 hours and the turnaround time is typically about a week. You can pay a fee for faster turnaround, 72 hours. The results are emailed to you. This test is 99% accurate in a lab and will provide a money back guarantee if the baby is not as predicted at birth. This test works by sampling fetal DNA found in the mother's blood

This test is another test that looks for the DNA of your baby in your blood. It is accurate starting at seven weeks after conception (typically what most people this of as nine weeks gestation). You get a small blood sample at home and send it into the lab. This test has a 95% accuracy. It has a money back guarantee if it is not accurate. The DNA it looks for belongs to a male, when not found at that point or later in pregnancy, the baby is a female. If there is an inconclusive result, they will provide one free retest. They also report that you can use this with twins and it can tell you if you are having only girls or at least one boy.
