Finding An Orthopedic Surgeon In Your City

Finding the right orthopedic surgeon can be a challenging task for any patient.  Often times, people aren't sure what to look for: a caring doctor, a well-published researcher, an experienced clinician, a well-trained surgeon.  Probably a little bit of everything!

On top of that, people often hear rumors about where to go: recommendations from a friend, referrals from their primary care provider, or online reviews.

  All of these can be valuable, and some can occasionally be misleading.

While I cannot make specific physician recommendations, I do offer several resources and ideas to help you find a doctor in your area.  Your best bet is to use some of these resources here to learn more about surgeons in your area. Try the Find A Doctor Tool to help in your search for an orthopedic surgeon.  However, the best place to start is usually your primary care provider. Ask your PCP or general practitioner who he or she has had good experiences with or has a good reputation.

In addition, before making any decision about elective surgery or major treatment, don't hesitate to ask for a second opinion.  Any surgeon confident in their recommendations will not be offended by a patient who want to confirm their advice with a second opinion.
