  • These easy paper spider web decorations are not only simple to make, but require only a few items to create them. To make these paper spider webs, you will need the following:

  • black lightweight card stock paper or construction paper
  • scissors
  • glue pen*
  • glitter (in silver, white, or gray)
  • white or black thin ribbon and Scotch tape (if you are making a garland with the spider webs)

* NOTE: If you don't have a glue pen, you can dip a wooden skewer or thin brush into a cup of liquid school glue and help your child draw the spider webs in lines that are as thin as possible.

3
Begin drawing your spider web with glue.

Take your glue pen and begin drawing your spider web. Begin by drawing a vertical line, a horizontal line, and two more intersecting lines to form a star-like figure.

4
Connect the ends of the lines to form the web.

Using your glue pen again, connect the ends of the lines to make the outline of the spider web. (Hint: Make the lines drapey and slightly "u" shaped so that the shape begins to look like a spider web.)

5
Keep adding more lines.

Continue adding more lines around the web, working your way toward the center and keeping the lines relatively parallel.

6
Make more lines until you finish your spider web.

Keep drawing more lines with your glue pen until you have completed your spider web.

7
Pour glitter all over the spider web.

Working quickly while the glue is still wet, pour glitter generously over the spider web. Wait several seconds and then pour the excess glitter off onto scrap paper. (You can re-use this glitter to make more spider web decorations.)

Let dry completely, and then cut all around the outside edges of the web, following the lines as you go (see photo).

8
To make a festive Halloween garland, just tape the spider webs to ribbon.
