These homemade Halloween decorations are are super easy and simple to make, even though they look complicated. Your kids will love making these beautiful bursts of color, and the fans will make your house festive for Halloween. It's the perfect Halloween craft for kids!

You will need just a few materials to make these fans.

  • Not only is this Halloween craft super-easy, it takes only a few materials to make these pretty fans. Here is what you will need:

  • 8 1/2" x 11" sheets of orange lightweight card stock or construction paper (You will need 2 to 3 sheets for each fan.)
  • 8 1/2" x 11" sheets of black lightweight card stock or construction paper (You will need 2 to 3 sheets for each fan.)
  • scissors
  • a good double-sided tape such as Therm O Web's Supertape
  • Scotch tape
  • baker's twine (about 3 to 4 feel for each fan)

Follow the steps for making paper fan decorations.

Follow the instructions for how to make paper fans and fold the sheets of paper, accordion-style. Fold the strip of paper in half.

For a pointed fan, cut the ends into triangular shapes.

To make the pointed-ends fans (shown here in black), cut the ends of your folded strips of paper into triangular points.

Tie a baker's twine or thin ribbon around the middle of the strip of paper (at the fold).

Fold another strip of paper and tie it to the first one.

Take another strip of paper and fold it in the same accordion style. Cut the ends as before and tie it to the first strip of paper as shown.

Use double-sided tape to join the sides of the strips of paper.

To form the fan, open up the pleats and join the sides together with double-sided tape. It should look something like this.

Make another strip (folded and cut the same way) and add it to the fan to complete the circle.

Hang the paper fan decorations all around the house!
