Karen Raymaakers RN BN CON(C) is a certified oncology nurse that has worked with leukemia and lymphoma patients for 14 years.
After the loss of her grandmother to breast cancer in 1983, Karen decided to become a nurse and devote her career to the care of cancer patients. During her education, she discovered a special interest in hematology nursing and has been working with that population of patients since. For the past several years, Karen has been a clinical nurse educator in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, educating patients as well as new and experienced nurses about leukemia, lymphoma, and other blood cancers.
Karen received her baccalaureate degree in nursing from The University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada. After working with cancer patients for a number of years, she completed the Oncology Nursing Distance Education Program (ONDEC) through The Alberta Cancer Board, and received her certification in oncology nursing from the Canadian Nurses Association.
I see my role as a way to share my passion for leukemia and lymphoma nursing with a whole new audience. Instead of only sharing my knowledge with the clients I meet each day, I can reach out to anybody across the miles with just the click of a mouse.
