Kate Bracy, RN, has been practicing as a clinician for more than 25 years. She is also an experienced educator and freelance medical writer.
Kate is registered nurse and certified nurse practitioner who specializes in the areas of women's health and family planning. Kate has done extensive training of health professionals in the areas of adolescent health, physical exam and sexuality.
Her work as a freelance medical writer has included co-authorship of a textbook for school nurses, clinical vignettes for Ordinary Miracles in Nursing , and a variety of articles for other publications. In 2007, she authored The Everything Health Guide to Menopause (Adams Media), and she recently finished The Complete Idiot's Guide to Sexual Health and Fitness (Alpha).
Kate earned a Master of Science in family nursing from the University of Minnesota. She also has an associate's degree in nursing from the State University of New York (SUNY) Canton and a bachelor's degree in English education from SUNY Potsdam.
Kate has women's health nurse practitioner certificate from Planned Parenthood of Minnesota, and a pediatric nurse practitioner certificate from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minnesota.
With so many women coming into their menopausal years, we boomers have a lot of company as we navigate middle age and beyond. Research is finally beginning to unravel the complicated world of menopause treatment, but it is changing so fast that it can be confusing. As a nurse practitioner, I know how eager women are to understand this period of their lives, and I enjoy sharing the latest information on hormones, diet, exercise and sexuality that women want and need. Menopause can be so much more than the change of life. It can be an open door to making the rest of your life the best of your life.
