Laura Williams, MSEd, ASCM-CEP


I'm Laura Williams, a fitness expert and advocate who is ready to show you that working out doesn't have to be a tedious or torturous experience. There are lots of ways to get fit and healthy, and they don't all involve a treadmill or a dumbbell! From Parkour and capoeira to barre and Bollywood dancing, I'll be investigating all the fitness trends, and breaking them down for you. I'll also be tackling the brave new world of online fitness, social media fitness and fitness apps as it grows and changes.


I received an undergrad degree in Exercise and Sport Science from Texas State University in 2003. From 2004 to 2010 I managed gyms and recreation centers (including a 90,000 square foot facility featuring everything from rock climbing and basketball to group fitness and synchronized swimming), before returning to school to pursue a master's degree.

In 2011 I graduated with a Masters Degree from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Exercise and Sport Science. Since 2011 I have been writing professionally about health and fitness for websites including Thrillist, Onnit and SheKnows, while managing my own online health and fitness community, Girls Gone Sporty. In May 2014, I received my Certified Exercise Physiologist (EP-C) certification from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), and have hosted online boot camps and taught exercise science classes as an Adjunct Professor.

In October 2016, my first book, "Partner Workouts" will be published by DK Books and Alpha Publishing.
