Medical billing and coding staff can obtain certification to show they have expertise in their field. Certification is available through several organizations. They require specialized education and qualifying examinations. Often they require membership in the organization that grants the certification.

Certification may make you a more desirable candidate for a new position or for promotion. Here is an overview of the certification programs available.
