Michael Strahan grew up primarily in Germany, but attended high school in Texas for a short time. After earning a football scholarship to Texas Southern University, he was drafted by the National Football League (NFL) in 1993. He played his entire professional football career with the New York Giants team. As a defensive end, he set records for sacks and was a frequent player in the Pro Bowl. In Super Bowl XLII in 2008, he helped the Giants to victory over the New England Patriots, ending his career on a high note with a championship title and ring. He was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in 2014. 

With an affable and endearing media presence, Strahan appeared in numerous commercials and television spots. He joined the Fox network as a football commentator upon his retirement from the game in 2008. In 2012, he was among several contenders to replace outgoing talk show host Regis Philbin.

After numerous appearances as a guest host, he was announced as the new host of the popular morning television program, joining Kelly Ripa for "Live with Kelly and Michael." He proved a popular choice, with ratings improving during his first year in the role. In 2014, he added to his media presence in the morning by joining the cast of Good Morning America.

The twin girls are two of Michael's four children. Twins Sophia and Isabella were born in October 2004. Their mother is Michael's second wife, Jean Muggli. The couple divorced in 2006, two years after the birth of the twins. Michael's older two children, Tanita (born in 1992) and Michael Jr. (born in 1995) were from his first marriage to Wanda Hutchins. At one time, Michael was purportedly engaged to Nicole Murphy, who has five children of her own.

The twins have enjoyed some of the media spotlight that shines on their famous father. The girls were featured along with their dad in an August 2013 issue of People magazine. They emulated their father's broadcasting skills when they appeared in a feature on Good Morning America, attending a kids' state dinner at the White House and interviewing First Lady Michelle Obama.
