Is the skin on your forehead, upper eyelids and eyebrows sagging? Does it make you look permanently sad, grumpy or tired? Is the excess skin or tissue hanging over your eyes creating vision problems? Perhaps a brow lift may be in the cards for you.

Often performed at the same time as a facelift, fillers, blepharoplasty, or rhinoplasty, a brow lift (also known as a forehead lift or browplasty) reduces the deep wrinkle lines that develop horizontally across the forehead, bridge of the nose, and between the eyes.

You may have heard these lines referred to as “frown lines” or “furrows.”

The cosmetic procedure, which improves the upper third of your face, also can raise sagging brows and place the brows in a more desirable position, resulting in a more youthful and “alert” appearance. A brow lift reverses the effects of gravity and tightens the soft tissues of the forehead to restore a more youthful contour to your forehead skin, upper eyelids and eyebrows.

There are several brow lift methods, all involving incisions of various sizes in different locations. Sometimes an endoscope is involved. While at rest, a more youthful brow is set above the orbital rim, with a gradual arch laterally, and the lateral end of the eyebrow positioned higher than the medial end.

To learn more about brow lifts, and to find out if a brow lift is right for you, make an appointment with an experienced, board-certified cosmetic surgeon.
