Why is my teen watching this show? What is it about?

Your teen is going to enjoy the mystery, intrigue and the little bit of scare that is thrown into the mix with ABC Family's Pretty Little Liars. The story is about four BFFs and their friend, Alison, who goes missing and is then found dead. So the big mystery is, who killed her? What do the girls know? Is the killer after anyone else?

But the show doesn't stop there with its intriguing premise.

After Alison is found dead, they begin receiving cryptic stalker-ish text messages from 'A' that sometimes get a bit nasty, to put it mildly. 'A' seems to know all of the girls secrets and is using tidbits of information to manipulate the four friends into doing things - or not doing things, like telling anyone what is going on. Very much like Alison used to when she was alive.

The show is based on the Harper Teen Novels, Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard. It is rated TV-14 and has mature teen and adult themes including sexual content, swearing and drug use.

When and where can my teen and I watch it?
