Adorable and easy Halloween Rainbow Loom pumpkin charms. Katherine Lee

These adorable rubber band Halloween pumpkin charms were originally created by the brilliant and creative mom behind Made by Mommy, which features lots more clever ideas for things to make with rubber band jewelry making kits like Rainbow Loom.

You can see Made by Mommy's video for the single-strand version of this pumpkin, or if your kids are older and more experienced with rubber band bracelet making, you can check out the slightly more difficult double-band version .

Read on for my step-by-step instructions (broken down into 2 parts to make it easier for kids) for how to make these cute rubber band Halloween charms.

Add another orange rubber band

Put another orange rubber band on the left side. (Be sure to follow this exact order, adding one rubber band at a time and working from the left side of the loom going to the right side of the loom; otherwise, the pumpkin will not hold together when you remove the rubber bands from the loom.)

Add more rubber bands, one at a time. Come around in a full circle until you have formed this hexagon shape.

8
Add an extra rubber band to the bottom right pegs.

Add one more orange rubber band to the bottom center and bottom right pegs (the two pegs that you started the hexagon with).

9
Add a rubber band to the center.

Keep adding more rubber bands the same way, going from the center of the circle to the next peg until you go all the way around.

12
Put a rubber band on the center peg.

Next, double a rubber band onto itself and put that on the center peg.

13
Grab the rubber band going to the bottom right peg.

Using your hook, grab the rubber band that's just under the doubled-over rubber band you just put on the center peg. (It should be the rubber band that goes to the peg on the bottom right side.) See the next photo for an overhead view of this step.

(HINT: Try tilting the loom up so that you are able to see the rubber bands clearly. This will help you identify exactly which rubber band you are trying to grab.)

Once you have the correct rubber band on your hook, gently work it over the peg (it may be helpful to use your other hand to make sure the doubled rubber band does not slip off as well). Then, take the hook over to the lower right side peg and gently place the rubber band there.

Here's the overhead view of this step.

As you can see from the overhead view of this step, you are grabbing the rubber band that goes to the bottom right peg. After you grab it, you are taking it to that peg on the bottom right and gently placing it there with your hook, which means you are basically doubling that rubber band onto itself on the loom.

15
Grab the rubber band going to the upper right peg.

Next, grab the rubber band going to the upper right peg. Katherine Lee

Next, grab the rubber band that is going from the center peg to the upper right-hand side peg on the loom. Again, remember to grab only the top rubber band. Bring it to the upper right-hand side peg and place it there.

16
Here is a view of the rubber band on the top right peg.

Here is what your pumpkin charm will look like so far after you put the rubber band on the upper right side hook.

17
Keep doing this until you go all the way around.

Continue unhooking and re-hooking the rubber bands in this way, always going from the center peg to the next outside peg, until you have gone all the way around. When you are done, the center peg will not have any rubber bands on it.
