 American distance running star Shalane Flanagan holds numerous American records in distance races, including the 3000 m (indoor), 5000 m (indoor), 10,000 m, 10K and 15K road race. She won the bronze medal in the 2008 Olympics in the 10,000 m and placed second in the 2010 New York City Marathon. In 2012, she won the U.S. Olympic Trials marathon and went on to place 10th in the 2012 Olympic women's marathon in London.
