After their first haircut, your child will look more like a grown-up toddler than the sweet little infant you brought home from the hospital. You won't want to forget this moment, so plan on taking plenty of haircut pictures to document this special occasion and create an adorable "Baby's First Haircut" scrapbook page.

An Important Milestone

It's hard to pinpoint the exact age when a baby should get their first haircut.

Some babies are born with thick, full heads of hair, while others spend their first year with just a few wispy curls. Around their first birthday, however, many babies will start to look as if they could use a trim.

Since you'll probably be holding your baby while they're getting their hair cut, plan on bringing another adult along if you want the process documented. Keep in mind your photographer will need to work fast: most babies find the experience of their first haircut to be a rather unpleasant one, so stylists try to work as quickly as possible.

Many parents attempt to prepare their children for a haircut by setting up a pretend hair salon at home. If you're set on having an array of photos to choose from, you might want to snap some pictures during this practice session.

Baby's First Haircut Scrapbook Page Titles

What's in a name? For a page that documents your child's very first haircut, feel free to be creative with a fun play on words or other saying.

Some of the page title ideas for a first haircut baby scrapbook page include:

  • A New Look
  • Time for a Trim
  • Cutting off the Curls
  • Great 'Do, Dude!
  • Locks of Love
  • Lots of Locks
  • A Hairy Situation
  • Snip, Snip, Snip

How to Embellish the Scrapbook Page

If you're an avid scrapbooker, you're aware of the seemingly endless variety of baby-themed scrapbooking stickers and other embellishments.

Decorations for the first haircut are no exception. You can find themed stickers and rub-ons at stores like Michaels and A.C. Moore. If you have a little girl, adorn the page with beauty parlor or glamour girl-themed stickers.

Memorabilia Pockets for a First Haircut Scrapbook Page

Lots of parents save a lock of hair from their baby's first haircut as a piece of memorabilia. Create a memorabilia pocket by attaching a vellum envelope to the scrapbook page. If you can't find a vellum envelope, simply make your own memorabilia pocket by gluing an old greeting card envelope to the page.

If the baby has their haircut at a professional salon, they might receive a special certificate, ribbon or other memento afterward. Scan these items or attached them right to the page for a 3D effect.
