Sharon Osbourne Celebrates One Year on Atkins Diet

A year ago, Sharon Osbourne went on the Atkins Diet and became a spokesperson for Atkins Nutritionals. I was interested in how she is doing, one year later. So often we hear about people going on diets, but then after awhile...crickets. So we don't know how it worked out in the long run.

On her blog on the Atkins Nutritionals site, Sharon says that her eating plan is "something [she] can rely on." She says, "No matter what else is going on in my life, I'm in control of my weight and what I'm eating.

I don't go sabotaging myself anymore. When I'm mad or sad, I'm not running off to the fridge for an ice cream. I haven't had potato chips or fizzy drinks in a year and I do not miss them at all."

This is one of the things that amazes people the most about a low-carb way of eating—that once you adjust to it, you really don't have the yearnings for food the same way as before. Sure, that cinnamon roll looks good, but it isn't that "gotta have it" feeling. I also found out the following about Sharon's Atkins way of life:

  • She lost 23 lbs. in 6 weeks and has kept it off one year later. She feels healthier than ever, with tons of energy.
  • She enjoys the lifestyle and feels it is so easy and she never feels hungry. She eat tons of vegetables, lean proteins, healthy fats like avocado and cheese. She never has a problem finding something delicious to eat when she's traveling or out to eat.
  • She loves the frozen meals because she doesn't cook, plus they are perfect for her when she's on the go.
  • She has a sweet tooth and loves the Chocolate Hazelnut Bars and the new Endulge Chocolate Candies. They make her feel satisfied.

Although I tend to stay away from sweet foods (even low-carb ones), I have heard good things about the Atkins frozen dinners. Has anyone tried them? What do you think?

Congratulations to Sharon Osbourne for sticking with your healthy low-carb lifestyle!
