Here's what you'll need to make these cute paper shamrocks:

  • green paper (in solid or patterns)
  • heart shape paper punch (small or medium size)
  • glue dots or a glue stick
  • scissors

(Note: If you don't have pretty patterned green paper, you can always put washi tape on some plain white copy paper and punch that out with your heart punch.)

Begin by using your heart shape paper punch to make some hearts. You will need three hearts for each shamrock and a bit of green paper for the stems.

Once you have three hearts punched out, cut out a small rectangle and trim the sides to make it look like a stem (see photo). Now you are ready to assemble the paper shamrock.

6

Take one of the hearts and turn it over. Using a small glue dot or glue stick, put a small amount of adhesive on the bottom point of the heart.

Turn over another heart and place it on the glue dot, just at an angle that's a bit less than 45 degrees.

7
Add the third heart to your paper shamrock.

Cut out a small rectangle and shape it with your scissors to form a stem. (Younger kids may need help with this part, and it may help to draw a curved outline with a pencil to make it easier for kids to cut out a stem shape.)

Turn the shamrock leaves over and put some more adhesive on the back. Glue the stem onto the shamrock.
