The berries and green tea in these incredibly refreshing and low-calorie frozen creations contain compounds that hydrate and combat inflammation. Toss them to bottles or glasses of water, tea and juice, or blend into smoothies to add boosts of flavor and inflammation fighting antioxidants.


  • 3 green tea bags
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 cup thinly sliced strawberries


  1. Heat water and brew tea.
  2. Mix in honey while still hot and stir to combine.
  3. Allow to cool at room temperature for one hour or place in the refrigerator (with the tea bags in the mixture) for up to 24 hours.
  4. Pour cooled tea mixture into ice cube tray.
  5. Place ice cube tray in the freezer and allow to freeze for 15 minutes.
  6. Once 15 minutes have passed and the cubes have begun to freeze, gently add a few sliced strawberries to each cube.
  1. Return the tray to the freezer to freeze completely, about 3 hours.
  2. Once frozen, leave ice cubes in trays until ready to use or transfer to a freezer safe bag.

Ingredient Variations and Substitutions

Instead of freezing into cubes, mix cooled tea with sliced strawberries and pour over ice for a refreshing and low calorie beverage.

Swap in any of your favorite tea varieties and fresh fruits for this recipe. Other flavorful combinations include white tea and raspberries, chamomile and blueberries, or lemon flavored black tea with thinly sliced oranges.

Cooking and Serving Tips

Ice cube trays come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, so adjust the servings accordingly. Big ice cubes are an ideal option for large pitchers, wide-mouthed water bottles, or drink dispensers, while the smaller sized trays work better if you’ll be serving drinks in individual glasses.
