Cute and cuddly teddy bears can be the inspiration for an adorable one-year-old birthday party celebration for your child. Since teddy bears have a timeless appeal, even your adult guests will enjoy attending your son or daughter's teddy bear first birthday party.

Teddy Bear Birthday Party Supplies and Decorations

The teddy bear birthday theme is fairly popular, so you should be able to find paper plates, cups, napkins, invitations, and decorations at any major party supply store.

Keep in mind that many of the designs intended for baby showers might also work for your celebration if they don't specifically have the words "Baby Shower" printed on them.

Once you've got your party supplies, you can get a little DIY with some of the decorations. Since the birthday boy or girl is probably not all that worried about things like color coordination, try to have a little fun with the planning. You can set up creative displays using your son or daughter's stuffed animals, or ask guests to bring their favorite teddy bear or other stuffed animal. Teddy bears look adorable holding balloon bouquets, perched in little red wagons, or sitting next to your party snacks. You can also try making place cards, signs, or banners using free teddy bear clip art.

Teddy Bear Cake Ideas

Unless you're super crafty in the kitchen, this might be one area you'd want to outsource to a professional.

Most bakeries should be able to incorporate your teddy bear theme. If  you're determined to do it yourself, there are hundreds of teddy bear themed ideas to be found on Pinterest. Here's a medium-complicated teddy bear cake idea you might consider if you've got a little time and some talent with buttercream icing.

Themes and Entertainment for a Teddy Bear Party

A teddy bear picnic is a fun activity for a first birthday party, especially if your child is turning one during the spring or summer months. A checkered tablecloth, wicker picnic baskets, and play food for young guests to feed the bears helps set the stage for this activity. Even if you have a winter baby, setting up a picnic indoors can work just fine as well.

Children at the one-year mark love to hear stories, so consider reading a cute bear-themed book to your young guests. Corduroy by Don Freeman would be especially appropriate, as would any Winnie the Pooh story.

Build-a-Bear birthday parties are very popular, but this type of party might be overwhelming for a first birthday. However, you could have a lower key version of the Build-a-Bear experience by purchasing one of the company's craft kits and helping children make their own bears at home. Favors for a Teddy Bear Birthday Party

While you're not required to assemble goody bags for a child's birthday party, finding party favors for a teddy bear first birthday celebration is very easy. Guests can go home with a small teddy bear, a teddy bear theme board book, a teddy bear coloring book, or teddy bear stickers. If you'd like to include snacks in your goody bag, either gummy bears or Teddy Grahams would be a good choice.
