Terri Mauro, Parenting Special Needs expert, has two children with special needs: a 25-year-old with language-based learning disabilities and a 22-year-old with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, both adopted from Russia in 1994. She is a survivor of more than 32 IEP meetings.
Terri is the author of 50 Ways to Support Your Child's Special Education and The Everything Parent's Guide to Sensory Processing Disorder (an update of her earlier version, The Everything Parent's Guide to Sensory Integration Disorder). She podcasts at Parenting Roundabout, blogs at Parenting Isn't Pretty, and shares special-needs information on her website Mothers With Attitude, which has been recognized as a USA Today Hot Site and a Good Housekeeping Site of the Day. She has been working as a writer for more than 30 years and has been an editor for Hallmark Cards, First for Women magazine, and Food and Wine cookbooks. Terri received a BA in Literature from the College of Creative Studies at the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1981.
