In 2014, 15.6 million cosmetic procedures were performed in the United States. According to the 2014 Plastic Surgery Statistics Report, that number increased 3% from 2013. Below are the five most commonly performed cosmetic surgical procedures.

Breast Augmentation

In 2014, 286,000 breast augmentation procedures were performed in the United States. Breast implants are implanted under the breast tissue or under the chest muscle to increase breast size (augmentation) or to rebuild breast tissue after mastectomy or other damage to the breast (reconstruction). They are also used in revision surgeries, which correct or improve the result of an original surgery.
