About the Author

Kay Porter is a psychotherapist in private practice, as well as a PhD-level sport psychologist who has trained hundreds of athletes and teams. She is the owner of Porter Performance Systems, a training, counseling and consulting company in Eugene, Oregon. Formerly a professor at the University of Oregon, she spent 13 years as a sport psychology consultant to the athletic department.

Her consulting also includes work for USA Track and Field and the U.S. Tennis Association, and she is a member of the U.S. Olympic Committee Sport Psychology Registry.
