Top 10 Dads of Twins in Sports

It takes a special kind of guy to be a dad of twins. They have to be strong enough to carry two kids at a time and fast enough to chase them both down (especially when they run in opposite directions!). They don't have to be superstar athletes, but some of them actually are! You may recognize some of these celebrity athletes from the world of sports. They're earned recognition on the basketball court, football field and baseball diamond. They're Olympians and Super Bowl champions, record-setters and medal holders. There's even a boxer and a bicyclist on this list! They hit harder, run faster and jump higher than most, but at heart, they are dads of twins.

Roger Federer

Considered one of the greatest players of all time, Roger Federer holds numerous records and titles in the world of tennis. While he's best known for playing singles, he's certainly been doubly blessed ... twice! Roger and his wife Mirka have identical girls, Myla Rose and Charlene Riva, who were born in 2009. In May 2014, they welcomed twin boys, Leo and Lenny.

Peyton Manning

As a popular NFL quarterback with the Indianapolis Colts and the Denver Broncos, Peyton Manning has won plenty of football games, and even two Super Bowl championships. Although he had to take time off in 2011 due to injuries and recovery from surgery, he scored his biggest touchdown with the birth of boy/girl twins that same year. Peyton and his wife Ashley have fraternal twins named Marshall Williams and Mosley Thompson.

Is he the greatest basketball player ever?  Michael Jordan is certainly one of the most famous to ever play the game. He's known for big comebacks, (such as coming out of retirement -- not once, but twice!), popular sneakers (Air Jordans), and marketing magic. With three grown children, his family rebounded in February 2014 when his second wife, Yvette Prieto, gave birth to identical twin daughters, Victoria and Ysabel.

He was a force to be reckoned with on the football field and now is a popular TV host. Michael Strahan was a record-setting defensive end with the New York Giants, even winning a Super Bowl championship in 2008 and being selected for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. After football, he developed a media presence as a commentator with Fox Sports. He became a staple of morning television as the co-host of Live with Kelly and Michael and a presence on Good Morning America. Michael Strahan has four children, including twin girls, Sophia and Isabella, who were born in 2004.

As a boxer, Muhammad Ali is a three-time heavyweight world champion. He's one of the most renowned sports figures in history, even earning the nickname "The Greatest." He's also the father of several children, including identical twin girls, Jamillah Ali and Rasheda Ali-Walsh who were born in 1970.

Jason Kidd

The second basketball player on this list is Jason Kidd. He had a successful career as a player for several NBA teams including the Dallas Mavericks and New York Knicks. Since his retirement as a player, he's stayed in the game as a coach. He's often described by sports enthusiasts as a "triple-double threat" for his ability to score, rebound and assist. Among his children are a set of twin girls, Miah and Jazelle, born in 2002 to his first wife, Joumana.

He's the third football player on this list, and another Super Bowl champion. Kurt Warner is a retired NFL quarterback who played for the St. Louis Rams, Arizona Cardinals and New York Giants. He appeared on the eleventh season of Dancing with the Stars. Among his seven children are twin girls, Sierra Rose and Sienna Rae, born in 2005.

Joe Mauer

Not only is this baseball player a dad of twins, but he's truly part of the team! Joe Mauer is a catcher and first baseman for the Minnesota Twins. In the middle of the 2013 season,  he rushed home from a game in California to be at his wife's side as she delivered twins. The baby girls   named Maren Virginia and Emily Teresa, arrived about a month early.

Lance Armstrong

He was a record-setting bicyclist, with an amazing seven consecutive wins in the Tour de France and an Olympic medal. But in 2012, Lance Armstrong was stripped of all his titles and banned from competitive cycling for life, and the legacy of his doping scandal overshadows his athletic achievements. He's a dad of twin girls, Isabelle Rose and Grace Elisabeth.

Mohamed "Mo" Farah

Although he currently resides in the U.S., this  Somali-born Englishman may not have the name recognition of some of the more popular sports stars on this list. But Mohamad "Mo" Farah, a track and field long-distance runner, is a record-setting athlete who is not only a dad of twins, but a twin himself. Lucky for him, he has two gold medals from the 2012 Olympics, one to show off to each of his twin daughters, Aisha and Amani, who were born just after the London games.
