Top Hydration Packs for Walkers

For longer walks you will need to carry more water and more gear. These selections either carry two water bottles or have a water bladder hydration system. They are great for hikes in areas without access to water, or when you want to carry both water and sports drink.

I am a big fan of Ultimate Direction's water bottles and packs. This pack has two of their excellent water bottles, which have a kicker valve for one-handed opening, closing and drinking. This pack has a good-sized compartment for carrying gear and snacks, with an outer zip compartment for quick access to essentials. It also has front belt pockets that are phone-compatible and sweat-resistant to keep it dry. It has a bungee cord, which I love to have to be able to strap down my jacket after I warm up. Ultimate Direction engineers its waistbands well to securely close and ride without jostling

The Mountainsmith Kinetic has two side mesh pockets suitable for carrying two water bottles - but they don't come included, so you'll need to provide your favorites. It has a good-sized main pocket, and a separate front pocket with headphone port. It also has a padded pocket for valuables. I love the bungee cord on front for attaching your jacket once you warm up.

Hydration Packs for Women

If you are ready to step up to a backpack-type hydration pack, here are my choices for those of us with shorter torsos. I like to wear a hydration pack with a sipper tube as I am more likely to actually "drink when thirsty" rather than delaying it because I don't want to get my bottle out of my pack. But because I am short, the standard designs are too long in back. I have to look for these shorter packs.
