The New Orleans Year Round Walk has been voted in the Top Ten Walks by the clubs of the American Volkssport Association in their yearly poll of walkers.

This 10 kilometer (6.2 mile) walk is thoroughly enjoyable, definitely one of my all-time favorites.

The walk was back up and running in 2006 following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Sign in for the walk at the 8th District Police Station, 334 Royal Street, New Orleans, LA 70130 It is open daily, all hours.

Walking late at night is not recommended.
Year-Round Walk Details and Directions

The walk tours all of the French Quarter and the Superdome area and is rated easy in the Big Easy.

Bring your appetite and decide where you will stop for beignets and coffee, then gumbo and jambalaya, and where you shall end up in the evening listening to jazz.

I stopped and had my fortune told by one of the dozens of seers around Jackson Square. It is fun touring Bourbon Street for fun, the Rue Royale and the French Market for shopping, and strolling along the Mississippi River Front, and seeing the enchanting balconies and courtyards.

The walk is hosted by the Crescent City Volkssport Club
