Turn Back the Clock With Dermal Fillers

A Quick Run-Down on Injectables

As we age, our face loses subcutaneous fat and our skin stretches, causing lines and wrinkles to become more obvious. Factor the sun, our heredities and lifestyles into the mix, and our faces become weathered with time. Many women and men seek ways to preserve their youthful appearances.

Although we haven’t figured out how to turn back time quite yet, doctors CAN help you diminish facial lines and restore volume in your face safely with the help of non-invasive dermal fillers. Once injected into the skin, they can help fill in wrinkles and give you a smoother appearance.  Dermal fillers can plump thin lips, soften facial wrinkles and creases, enhance shallow contours, and improve the appearance of recessed scars.

Since they are eventually absorbed into the body, most fillers are temporary, so some may need more than one injection to achieve their desired effect. Dermal fillers do NOT take the place of facial surgeries, but they are an excellent approach toward altering the signs of early aging, and can delay the need for a facelift, eyelift, etc.

The many options available to the consumer can be overwhelming. Below is a quick run-down of the various fillers offered and approved by the FDA, which all differ in softness, chemical make-up and longevity.  All of the below involve a fine gauge needle and no recovery time or anesthesia. Your doctor will help you decide which option, if any, is best for you.
