Women's Summer Running Clothes and Gear Recommendations

Stay cool and comfortable during hot weather running

Running in the heat and humidity can be much more enjoyable and comfortable when you're wearing the right clothes and gear. Here are some recommendations for summer running apparel and gear that will help keep you cool and happy.

These lightweight shorts from Nike get high marks from runners for their comfort, durability, and overall look. They've kept convenience in mind, with an internal pocket for keys or other small items. The adjustable elastic waistband ensures that you get the perfect, comfortable fit.

This super-light, comfortable tank from Under Armour delivers superior coverage without weighing you down. Runners love this tank for its wicking performance and range of motion, thanks the stretch construction and racer-back style.  The mesh insets on the tank's back and straps offer amazing breathability. It also features anti-microbial technology to keep your tank stink-free and make it last longer.

Protecting your eyes from the sun is important all year long, but especially in the summer. Many runners swear by Oakley's top-seller Half Jacket sunglasses. They offer the 100% UV protection that you need, and they're also comfortable and lightweight. Half Jackets also feature interchangeable lenses, so you can adapt them to different light conditions.

This running skirt from Skirt Sports is a flattering, comfortable and practical alternative to running shorts. There are plenty of pockets (two side and one internal) to store anything you need for a long run or race. The "boy shorts" under the skirt are super comfortable and don't ride up, while helping to protect from chafing (and peek-a-boos if it's a little windy). Also, with a wide waistband and the compression shorts, the fit is very flattering.

These running shorts are so comfortable that they actually made me want to run longer. I'm not kidding. The fabric is ultra-lightweight and stretchy, so these shorts are so easy to move in. They also feature mesh on the sides, making them extremely breathable. And they come in many different fun and vibrant colors.

Hydrating on the run is always important, but especially when running in the heat. FuelBelt's newer and lighter version of their famous bottle belt, the Helium 2, makes it easier to carry your fluids.  It features two 7-oz. BPA-free bottles and a removable storage pocket with zipper.

The belt is made of ventilated Hex foam pads, which help make the belt comfortable and breathable. I didn't notice much bounce at all when running with this belt, and the bottles stay securely in their holders. I've tried many different fluid carriers, and this is definitely one of the best. If you prefer a hydration belt with four bottles, FuelBelt's Revenge Belt is also a great choice.

This light-weight tank from New Balance is perfect for running in hot and humid conditions. It features NB ICE - a remarkable technology that's sweat-activated to help keep you cool and dry when things heat up. Runners also love the tank's figure-flattering style, quick dry properties, and odor resistance.

If you've been hesitant to run in tight-fitting pants, these capris from Under Armour may change your mind. With a wide waistband and rousched knees, they're extremely comfortable, light, and easy to move in. They're also very sleek and slenderizing, keeping you tucked in at all the right places. And Under Armour's Moisture Transport System will keep you dry during those sweaty runs.
